Obituary for Donald Santos
Donald Santos, 86, of Ludlow, passed away peacefully on March 7, 2018. Born in Ludlow, son of the late Jose and Maria Dos Santos, he was a lifelong resident and United States Army Veteran proudly serving during the Korean War, in Anchorage, Alaska. Donald worked for many years for John Payer Inc and Monsanto/Solutia. In 1996, he retired to St Augustine, FL with his long time partner, Eleanor Casey (deceased 2010), where he remained until 2014. In St. Augustine, he was a long time member of the Elks Lodge #829 and continued to be an avid poker player. Donald was the beloved husband of the late Mary A. Santos (Gauthier), who predeceased him in 1988 ; a devoted father to Donna Plata & husband Steve of Chicopee, Laurie Milos & husband Bill of Ludlow, and Randy Santos & wife Michele of Belchertown; a loving grandfather to Jessica Plata of Chicopee, Justin Milos and partner Marisa Plouffe of Palmer, Benjamin Milos of Reston, Virginia, Andrea Santos of Belchertown, and Senior Airman Joshua Santos, military working dog handler with the Seventh Security Forces Squadron at Dyess Air Force Base, Texas; a dear brother to Dorothy Teal of Chicopee, and the late Armand, Joseph, George, Mateus, & Arnold Santos, Irene Leasher, and Ilda MacRae; and also leaves many loving nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends. Visiting hours for Donald will be held on Monday, March 12th from 3:00-4:30 in Ludlow Funeral Home. Additional services will be held privately by the family and in lieu of flowers, the family would kindly appreciate donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association (www.alz.org) or the Holyoke Soldiers Home 110 Cherry St. Holyoke, Ma 01040.
