Obituary for Joseph Grano
Joseph Grano, Jr., 88, of Milford, Ohio, passed away on December 3, 2016, in Fort Myers, FL. Â
Joe was born on May 15, 1928, in Arlington, MA, to Joseph and Hilda Kristina (Esbjornsson) Grano.  He graduated from Arlington High School, received a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a Master’s Degree in Business from American International College.  Joe served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.  He and his wife, Marilyn, moved to Ludlow, MA, where they raised three children: Gary, Alan, and Karen.  Joe worked as a chemical engineer at Monsanto for over 30 years before retiring. Joe was a kind and caring father and grandfather.  He enjoyed spending time with his family and the Rose family picnicking at Laurel Lake, water and snow skiing, and vacationing at the cottage in Maine.  He also enjoyed traveling, having traveled around the world visiting places such as the Taj Mahal, Mt. Everest, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand. Several years after the death of his wife, Marilyn, Joe was fortunate to meet Elisabeth Noffsinger who shared his passion for travel. Joe was predeceased by his beloved wife, Marilyn (Paul) Grano, and his son, Alan.  He is survived by his dear friend, Elisabeth Noffsinger of Milford, Ohio, his children Gary of Boiling Springs, PA, and Karen Hawley of Brownfield, ME, his siblings Robert of Tavernier, FL, and David of Pleasanton, CA, his grandchildren, great grandchildren, nephews and nieces. Visiting hours will be on Friday, December 16, 2016, from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. at the Ludlow Funeral Home, 432 East Street, Ludlow, MA.  A memorial service will follow at 11:30 a.m.  After the ceremony, burial will be at the Hillcrest Cemetery, Parker Street, Springfield, MA.
