Obituary for Lucien "Lou" Aube
Lucien “Lou” Aube passed away peacefully on February 14, 2017 at his lakeside home in Holland, MA surrounded by his family. Born in St. Charles, Quebec, Canada, he was the son of the late Irene and Irma Aube. He was raised in Springfield, where he was a graduate of Springfield Trade School and later settled in Ludlow and Granby, MA. Lou was the owner of Aube Precision Tool for 32 years, a company that carries his name today.
Lou had a passion for hockey. He played for the Popko Realty hockey team, where he met so many of his closest friends. He went on to sponsor the Aube Precision Tool hockey team, on which he also played with his friends from the Popko Realty hockey team. Lou also gave back to the community in many ways. He was a member of the Ludlow Special Police and the Ludlow Auxiliary Police. He was an avid supporter of many youth sports programs and held the annual Aube Precision Tool golf tournament to benefit the Ludlow Boys and Girls Club. Lou was a member of the Ludlow Country Club and the Ludlow Loafers golf league. He hosted his friends and their children for weekly volleyball games at his former home in Granby. Lou enjoyed fast sports cars and antique hot rods, often showing off his cars at the Ludlow Elks Club Cruise Nights.
Lou was the loving husband of 48 years to Beverly (Childs) Aube; a devoted father to Suzanne Bleakley and husband Matthew, of Granby, and Michelle St. John and husband William, of Wilbraham; an adoring grandfather to Michael Rufo, of Malden, Matthew and Noah Bleakley, of Granby, and Amelia and William St John, of Wilbraham; a dear brother to Fernand and Claude Aube, of Westfield, Ghistlaine Roy, of Quebec, and Pauline Duzniewski, of Blandford. He also leaves many nieces and nephews, extended family members, and dear friends, both here and in Canada. Visiting hours for Lou are on Monday, February 20th from 4:00-7:00pm at Ludlow Funeral Home. Friends and family are then asked to gather on Tuesday, February 21st directly at St. Elizabeth Parish in Ludlow at 11:00am for a Liturgy of Christian Burial. Burial will be held privately in Holland at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
