Obituary for Olivia (Ganhao) Santos
Olivia E. (Ganhao) Santos, 85, of Ludlow, passed away peacefully on August 31, 2018 after a a long battle with dementia and alzheimer's disease. Born in Obidos, Portugal, daughter of the late Constantino and Emilia (Conceicao) Ganhao, she immigrated to Ludlow where she was a faithful communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church. She worked for many years in the Ludlow Mills as well as Carter’s/Gemini Company in Springfield before retiring. Olivia was the beloved wife of 61 years to Antonio Dos Santos; a devoted mother to Maria Santos, of Ludlow, Lucie Kamuda McHan and husband Billy McHan, of Ocoee, FL, and the late Judy Santos, who predeceased her in 1977; a loving grandmother to Lauren and Jessica Kamuda; a dear sister to Ismael, Valeriano, and Joaquin Ganhao, Maria Francisco, Manuela Faria, Ederlinda Maria, and the late Pedro, Jose, and Irene Ganhao; and also leaves numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends, both here and in Portugal. Olivia’s family also wishes to extend a special thank you to the Dr’s, nurses, and entire staff of CareOne at Redstone and Ascend Hospice for the exceptional care and compassion they provided to Olivia and her family. Funeral services for Olivia will be held on Thursday, September 6th. Visiting hours are from 8:30-10:15am in Ludlow Funeral Home followed by Liturgy of Christian Burial in Our Lady of Fatima Church at 11:00am with burial in Island Pond Cemetery.
