Obituary for Roger Parent
Roger C. Parent, 67, died unexpectedly November 6, 2017 in Port Orange, Florida. Roger was born on February 9, 1950 in Holyoke, Massachusetts to Rodger and Doris Parent. He graduated from Chicopee Comprehensive High School in 1968 and attended Westfield State College and Holyoke Community College for two years before securing a job in his chosen career in carpentry, he worked at that field in various positions throughout his career.  He was most proud of his tenure as a teacher at Putnam Vocational High School in Springfield and once being selected as teacher of the year. He was also recognized for the work he and his students did in the renovation of the Barney Estates at Forest Park in Springfield. He enjoyed camping and RVing and he also enjoyed riding his motorcycle in the warm weather of Florida and attended bike week in Daytona with his son Jeff on numerous occasions he will be remembered fondly for his indomitable spirit. For Roger, life is not about waiting for the storm to pass, it was about learning to dance in the rain. He leaves his loving wife Maryann of Port Orange Florida, his Son Jeffrey Parent of Ludlow, his daughter Jennifer Green and her husband Diallo of Las Vegas Nevada, his mother Doris Parent of Chicopee, his brother Robert Parent and his wife Noreen of Easthampton, his sister Sharon Kaufman and her husband Richard of Chicopee, his brother-in-law Robert Medwid of Florida, three grandchildren Ava, Julia and Damani and numerous nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles.   Visiting hours for Roger will be held Monday, November 20th from 6:00-8:00PM at the Ludlow Funeral Home, 432 East St., Ludlow.  Family and Friends are asked to gather directly for a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11:00am on Tuesday, November 21st at St. Cecilias Parish in Wilbraham  his burial will be held privately by his family. In lieu of flowers please make donations to:  Roger C. Parent Foundation,  C/O TD Bank, Center Street in Ludlow, 01056.
