Obituary for Walter S. Lazarz
Walter S. Lazarz, 87, of Springfield, passed away peacefully on June 6, 2017 at the Soldiers’ Home in Holyoke. Born in Springfield, son of the late Stanislaw and Antonina (Pasek) Lazarz, he grew up in Ludlow before returning to Springfield where was a communicant of Our Lady of the Rosary Parish. Walter was a United States Army Veteran proudly serving his country during the Korean War and worked for 35 years for Monsanto from where he retired. Walter was the beloved brother of Estelle Brinegar, of Springfield, and the late Wanda Piekos, Gladys Bellerive, and Genevieve “Sandy” Nadeau; a loving uncle to several nieces and nephews including his godchild Sheree Lolos, William Brinegar, Jr., and Stan Piekos and wife Cindy; and also leaves many cousins, extended family members, and dear friends. Funeral services for Walter will be held on Thursday, June 15th at 1:00pm in the Massachusetts Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery in Agawam. Per Walter’s wishes, there will be no calling hours and Ludlow Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff of the Soldiers’ Home in Holyoke for their care and compassion. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Walter’s memory to the Soldiers Home in Holyoke, 110 Cherry St. Holyoke, Ma. 01040.
