Obituary for Albert Costa

On Tuesday December 13th, Albert “Lefty” Costa passed away at home from natural causes at age ninety-two. Lefty was born in 1930 to Elias Costa and Incarnation Lopes. He was very active growing up and in the 1950s and 60s Lefty played soccer for the Gremio Lusitanos, as well as Class A Semi-Pro Fast-Pitch Softball. In his later years he umpired. After retiring, Lefty still walked and swam every morning at the YMCA until the year before his death. He had so many friends and people who loved him, and always had the best stories to keep his children, and later grandchildren, mesmerized by him. He married Alice Williamson on September 6th 1958, and they were together for over 60 years until her death in 2021. Lefty was also preceded in death by his parents, and his brothers and sisters, John Costa, Lucy Dasilva, Fernando “Bayles” Costa, Mary Manchester, Sarah Lucas, and Elias “Tete” Costa. He is survived by his children Steve, Paula, and Debbie; his grandchildren, Kimmi, Christi, Lynn, Josh, Sami, TJ, and Darielle; and his great-grandchildren Kailey, Bella, Beau, and Dani. In lieu of flowers, donations to Cystic Fibrosis can be made at cff.org
