Obituary for Albert D. Fontaine
Albert D. Fontaine, 79, of Ludlow, passed away peacefully at home on August 31, 2019 surrounded by his loving family. Born in Ludlow, son of the late Oregene and Clara (Surprenant) Fontaine, he lived in Ludlow until 1999 and then he began traveling and spending winters in Florida and summers in Brimfield. Albert formerly owned Ludlow Bottled Gas Service as well as 2 gas stations in Ludlow and in 1981, he and his wife started Miracle Method which they owned for 20 years before retiring. Albert had a passion for Antique Cars, and in his spare time, he enjoyed traveling, volunteering with the Army Corps of Engineers, and especially spending time with his family. Albert was the beloved husband of 61 years to Audrey (Graham) Fontaine; a loving father to James Fontaine, of Ludlow, and Gary Fontaine and wife Cindy, of Monson; a cherished grandfather to Jessica, Melissa, Garrett, and Bonnie Fontaine; great-grandfather to Anthony, Vincent, Hannah, Laila, and Liam; a dear brother to Ernest, Oregene, and Dick Fontaine, all of FL, Clarence “Larry” Fontaine, of TX, and the late Roberta Howe and Joan Deschaines; and also leaves many loving nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends. Visiting hours for Albert will be held on Friday, September 6th from 4:00-7:00pm in Ludlow Funeral Home . Additional services will be held privately by the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Albert’s memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (stjude.org).
