Obituary for Albertina (Jacinta) Casimiro

Albertina (Jacinta) Casimiro, 95, of Springfield passed away peacefully on October 26, 2012 with her loving family by her side. Born in Carvalhal Turquel, Portugal to the late Manuel and Maria (da Conceicao) Jacinta, she was a long time Ludlow resident before moving to Springfield 27 years ago. She was a past communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Parish and worked for the former Cromwell Mills before her retirement in 1978. Albertina enjoyed cooking, crocheting, knitting and summers in her garden but most of all she cherished her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Gabriel Casimiro who predeceased her in 1980. She leaves her son Avelino Casimiro and his wife Shirley of Ludlow; her daughter Ilidia DeRaleau and her husband Edward of Springfield; caring grandmother to Mark Casimiro, Kimberly Brunelle and her husband Chris, Tina Mastello, Ryan DeRaleau and Nicole DeRaleau and her husband Erik Marcoux as well as her dear great-grandchildren Nicholas and Alex Brunelle and Madeline and Evan Marcoux, she also leaves several nieces, nephews and friends throughout the community. Sadly she was predeceased by her 2 brothers and 2 sisters. Funeral services for Albertina will be held on Wednesday, October 31, 2012. Family and friends are asked to meet at Our Lady of Fatima Church at 12:00pm for a Liturgy of Christian Burial followed by interment in St. Aloysius Cemetery. Visiting hours are private and Ludlow Funeral Home has been entrusted with her arrangements. It was the wish of Albertina’s family that in lieu of flowers donations may be made in her memory to: D’Amour Center for Cancer Care, 3350 Main St. Springfield, MA. 01107.
