Obituary for Alceu G. Dos Santos
Alceu G. Dos Santos, 82, of Wilbraham passed away peacefully on Sunday September 27th, 2009 surrounded by his loving family, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.  Born in Santo Andre, Portugal to the late Bento and Albina (Machado) Dos Santos, he served in the Portuguese Army/ Cavalry Division and was elected town representative of Santo Andre for 16 years until moving to Wilbraham in 1967.  Alceu was a faithful communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Parish and a proud member of the Gremio Lusitano Club for 41 years.  He worked for many years at the former Jahn Foundry Corporation until his retirement in 1992.  Alceu was an expert in grape growing and wine making throughout his life and never lost the love of gardening that he learned in Portugal.  He cherished the time spent with his family and friends, and always had words of advice and great stories about his personal experiences that will never be forgotten, he will long be remembered for a man who always helped those in need.  He leaves his beloved wife of 52 years Ana Maria (Liberal) Dos Santos of Wilbraham; loving son Dennis Liberal Santos and his wife Maria Isabel of Hampden; his grandchildren, who were his pride and joy, Nicholas, Vanessa, Allyson and Jessica; caring brothers Manuel Santos and his wife Gloria of Indian Orchard, Benjamin Santos and his wife Ana of Ludlow, Arlindo Santos and wife Aurora of Bridgeport, CT. and his sister Isaura Goncalves in Arizona as well as several nieces, nephews, godchildren and friends.  Alceu was predeceased by his daughter Albina in 1963 and his son Arlindo in 1974.  Funeral services will be held Thursday October 1st, 2009 at 9:00am from the Ludlow Funeral Home with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00am in St. Mary of the Assumption Church with father Vitor Oliveira celebrating Mass, burial will follow in St. Aloysius Cemetery.  Visiting hours are Wednesday evening from 4:00-7:00pm and donations may be made in Alceu’s memory to;  Jimmy Fund, 10 Brookline Place West, 6th floor, Brookline, MA. 02445.
