Obituary for Alice L. Gajewski
Alice L. (Afonso) Gajewski, of Ludlow, passed away peacefully on June 21. Born in Woburn Ma., she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Alexandrina (Albino) Pina Afonso. She was an honors graduate of Woburn High School, and after graduation moved with her family to Ludlow, were she resided the rest of her life. Alice retired from Shawinigan Resins/Monsanto Co., after 27 years of service. She was a volunteer at the Hubbard Memorial Library, where she received a service award from the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program. She also volunteered at the Ludlow Senior Center, and was honored with the Golden Apple and Mary Ann Dion awards. She was a member of the After Five Tea Dance Club, the Ludlow Senior Citizen’s Club, and the Portuguese American Citizens Club. Alice was the beloved wife of the late Edward J. Gajewski. She is survived by her daughter Barbara Picard, and her husband Bill, and a grandson Jeremy Picard, all of Ludlow, a brother William Afonso of Oldsmar Fl, and several nieces, nephews and friends, especially her dear childhood friend Ida Harman of Tucson AZ. She was predeceased by her brothers; Carlos, John, Joseph, and Albert, and a sister, Irene DeJusus. Graveside Services will be held Tuesday morning , June 25th, at 11:30 A.M. in Hillcrest Park Cemetery.
