Obituary for Alice Lopes
Alice Lopes, 83, of Higher St., died at home on Tuesday, September 19, 2006 after a long and courageous struggle with cancer. Born in Ludlow, the daughter of the late Benjamin and Gloria Lopes, she was a lifelong resident and a member of the Portuguese American Citizens Club. Alice was the beloved wife of almost 60 years to Alfred Lopes.; a loving mother to Rita Petelle and her husband John of Raleigh, N.C.; a cherished grandmother to Christina Deatherage and her children Isabella and Kayla of Wake Forest, N.C. and Aimee Norris , her husband Ryan and their children, Alexander and Andrew, all of Cary, N.C.; a dear sister to Edalina Smith, Mary Mills and Julietta Rodrigues, all of Wilbraham, Benjamin Lopes of Ludlow, Ramiro Lopes of East Longmeadow and the late Casimiro and Fernando Lopes; and also leaves many loving nieces and nephews. Friends and family are asked to gather for a Memorial Service on Saturday Sept. 23, 2006 at 12:30pm in St. Cecelia’s Church, Wilbraham. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Alice’s memory to Baystate VNA and Hospice 50 Maple St. Springfield, Ma. 01102-9058 or St. Cecelia’s Church 42 Main St. Wilbraham, Ma. 01095.     Â
