Obituary for Amelia Ann Powalka
Amelia A. Powalka 93 of Ludlow, MA died peacefully on Thursday, February 9, 2012 at Baystate Medical Center. Born April 3, 1918, Amelia lived her entire life in Ludlow. She was the daughter of the late Frank and Apolonia (Przybycien) Powalka of Ludlow, MA. Amelia was employed for 44 years at U.S. Envelope Company (Westvaco) of Ludlow retiring in 1980. She was a member and faithful communicant of Christ the King Church of Ludlow, MA and a member of the Ludlow Senior Citizens. She was predeceased by her brother Walter F. Powalka of Windsor, CT, her sister Anna P. Powalka of Ludlow and her nephew Robert W. Powalka of Windsor, CT. She leaves two nephews, Richard C. Powalka and his wife Sharon of North Granby, CT and Kenneth H. Powalka and Carol Souppa of Windsor, CT. The family would like to thank Debbie Johnson, Outreach Coordinator at the Ludlow Council on Aging for all the kindness and help she gave to Amelia over the years. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 21, 2012. Friends and family are asked to gather at Christ the King Church at 10:00 a.m. for a Liturgy of Christian Burial followed by burial in Island Pond Cemetery. There are no calling hours.
