Obituary for Americo DaPonte
Americo DaPonte, 91, of Ludlow, passed away peacefully on Thursday January 24, 2008, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Azores, he came to Ludlow in 1970 where he was a faithful communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church. He worked as a chef for many years at the former Family Dining Room before his retirement.  Americo was the husband of the late Maria (Leonor) DaPonte, who predeceased him in 1972; a loving father to Rosa Pio and her husband Joseph, of Ludlow, and Nidia Medeiros and her husband Joseph, of Newington, C.T.; a cherished grandfather to Michael Pio, Scott Pio and his wife Jaime both of Ludlow and Brian and Kevin Medeiros of Newington; he also leaves a brother Augusto of Montreal, Canada and was predeceased by his brothers and sisters. Funeral services will be on Monday morning at 9:00AM from Ludlow funeral Home with Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00AM in Our Lady of Fatima Church followed by burial in St. Aloysius Cemetery. Visiting hours are on Sunday evening from 3-6PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Americo’s memory to the Our Lady of Fatima Parish Center Fund, Winsor Street, Ludlow, MA. 01056.
