Obituary for Americo "Mack" Gomes
Americo “Mack” Gomes, 89, of Ludlow, passed away peacefully on July 23, 2018. Born in Ludlow, Mack was the son of the late Antonio and Anna (Neves) Gomes and was a lifelong resident and proudly served in the United States Army National Guard. Mack worked for many years at Kellco Products and Popko Realty before becoming a self-employed home builder who built many family homes in Ludlow and the surrounding area. He was also a member of Christ the King Church and the Stock Investment Club. Mack was the beloved husband of the late Helen (Dudek) Gomes, who predeceased him in 2008; a devoted father to Debra Forcum and husband Steven, of Ludlow, and Linda Gomes, of Chicopee; a loving grandfather to Chrispin Shaughnessy and wife Mira, Paul Shaughnessy, Steven Forcum, Jr. and wife Amie, Michael Forcum and wife Lindsay, and Anne-Marie Brown and husband Jeremy, cherished great-grandfather to Christopher Martone, Emma and Natalie Forcum, and William and Gwyneth Brown; a dear brother to Antonio Gomes, Jr and late wife Mildred, and the late Abel Gomes and late wife Virginia; a loving uncle to David Gomes and Cheryl Merrill; and also leaves many loving extended family members and dear friends. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 28th at 9:15am from the Ludlow Funeral Home with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00am in Christ the King Church followed by burial in Island Pond Cemetery. Visiting hours are on Friday evening from 6:00-8:00 and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mack’s memory to the Christ the King Parish Fund, Warsaw Ave. Ludlow, MA. 01056.
