Obituary for Americo “Scorpy” Dias
Americo “Scorpy” Dias, 92, of Ludlow, passed away peacefully on October 12, 2017 with his loving family by his side. Born in Ludlow, son of the late John and Anna (Martins) Dias, he was a lifelong resident and worked as a maintenance supervisor for the Ludlow School Department for many years before retiring. Scorpy was an avid golfer and longtime member of the Ludlow Country Club who enjoyed many rounds of golf with his son, his grandson, and his friends. In his spare time, he loved soccer, stock picking, home improvement projects, and being the number one cheerleader for his grandkids. Scorpy was the beloved husband of 71 years to Ezaura “Hazel” (Pereira) Dias; a loving father to Madeline Duarte and husband Fred, and Bruce Dias; a devoted grandfather to Melanie Duarte and Adam Duarte and wife Laurie; an adoring great-grandfather to William, Anna, and Emma Duarte; a dear brother to the late August and Sebastiao Dias; and also leaves many nieces, nephews, loving extended family members, and dear friends. Funeral services for Scorpy will be held on Tuesday, October 17th at 9:00am from Ludlow Funeral Home with Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00am in Our Lady of Fatima Church followed by burial in St. Aloysius Cemetery. Visitation is on Monday from 4:00-7:00pm.
