Obituary for Ana Gloria (Lucas) Cacela
Ana Gloria (Lucas) Cacela, 97, of Ludlow, passed away peacefully at home on June 9, 2021 surrounded by her loving family. Born in Alcobaca, Portugal, she immigrated to the U.S in 1970 with her husband and 3 children settling in Ludlow, where she was a faithful communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church. She worked for many years at Spaulding Sports from where she retired, and in her spare time, she enjoyed gardening. Ana will be remembered for her resilience, her adaptation of modern thinking, for always inspiring and encouraging her family to be the best they can be, and especially her lifetime devotion to her family, which were her pride and joy. Ana was the beloved wife of 65 years to the late Estanislau “Lau” N. Cacela, who predeceased her in 2018; a loving mother to Antonio Cacela and wife Lauren, of Holden, Luis Cacela and wife Maria, of Wilbraham, and Maria Batista and husband John, of Ludlow; a cherished grandmother to John and wife Brianna, Christopher and wife Marcy, Justin, Jillian, Jacob, Carl, Samuel, and Jack; great-grandmother to twins Isabelle and Olivia, Dylan, Camden, and Jacob John; dear sister to Angelina Pereira and Laurinda Goncalves, both of Ludlow, and the late Maria, Joaquim, Alzira, Jose, Antonio, Manuel, and Mariana; and also leaves many loving extended family members and dear friends. Visiting hours for Ana will be held on Saturday, June 12th from 9:00-10:15am in Ludlow Funeral Home with Liturgy of Christian burial at 11:00am in Our Lady of Fatima Church, followed by burial in Island Pond Cemetery.
