Obituary for Ana Marques
Ana deJesus (Ascenção) Marques, 92, of Ludlow, passed away peacefully on September 9, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Vale de Prazeres, Portugal, she was the daughter of the late Joaquim and Cipriana Ascenção and immigrated to Ludlow in 1966. Ana worked for many years at Tambrands from where she retired and in her spare time, she loved gardening, baking, knitting, crocheting, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Ana was the beloved wife of the late Celestino Marques, who predeceased her in 1987; a loving mother to Maria Teresa (Marques) Pina and late husband Fernando, of Ludlow, Joao Alfredo A. Marques and wife Helena, in Portugal, and Joaquim Antonio A. Marques and wife Isabel, also in Portugal; a cherished grandmother to Ann Pina Provost and former spouse Dan, and Dianne Goncalves and husband Joe, all of Ludlow and Paul and partner Monica, Nelson and partner Fatima, Joana and Ana Claudia Marques, all in Portugal; a dear great-grandmother to Nicholas, Tyler, Liliana, and Joseph Goncalves, Mattingly, Angelina, and Isabella Provost, and Joao, Iris, Lara, and Bruna Marques; dear sister of Joaquim Ascenção in Portugal and the late Maria Rosa Nogueira; and also leaves many loving extended family members and dear friends both here and in Portugal. Ana’s family also wishes to extend a special thank you to the nurses and staff at Life Care Center of Wilbraham for their professionalism and exceptional care and compassion. Visitation will be held on Friday morning from 9:00-10:15am in Ludlow Funeral Home with Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11:00am in Our Lady of Fatima Church followed by burial in Island Pond Cemetery. Donations may be made in Ana’s memory to St. Jude's Children’s Research Hospital (stjude.org)
