Obituary for Anita R. (Sorrell) Tranquilli
Anita R. (Sorrell) Tranquilli, 86, of Ludlow, passed away peacefully on September 8, 2019 surrounded by her loving family. Born in Ludlow, daughter of the late Norman and Delina (Gagne) Sorrell, she was a lifelong resident, a 1951 graduate of Ludlow High School and a faithful communicant of St. Elizabeth Parish. She worked for many years at US Envelope before leaving the workforce to raise her family. She then later worked for many years at the former Mars and Kings Department Stores, and Gene’s Laundromat. Anita was the beloved wife of the late Walter L. Tranquilli, who predeceased her in 2011; a loving mother to Mary-Ann Grasso and her husband Michael of Windsor, CT, Matthew Tranquilli and his wife Laura of El Cajon, CA, Jeannette Chiasson and her husband Ronald of Belchertown, Diane Miller and her husband Lawrence of Ludlow, and the late Edward Tranquilli and his widow Mary, of Springfield; a cherished grandmother to Steven and Michelle Grasso, Paul and Mark Tranquilli, Andrew and Elizabeth Chiasson, and Amanda Miller; a dear sister to Norman Sorrell and wife Fran and the late Adrienne Bryzecki; and also leaves many loving extended family members and dear friends. Anita’s family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff of Life Care Center of Wilbraham, especially her nurse Fran, for the exceptional care and compassion they provided to her. Visiting hours for Anita are Thursday from 5:00-7:00pm at Ludlow Funeral Home. Funeral services are on Friday, September 13th at 9:00am from Ludlow Funeral Home with Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00am in St. Elizabeth Parish followed by burial in St. Aloysius Cemetery.
