Obituary for Anna (Woloczij) Lonczyna
Anna (Woloczij) Lonczyna, 97, of Chicopee was called safely home to be with God on Saturday, July 10, 2021. Born in Dzwyniacz, Ukraine she was the daughter of the late Roman and Justyna (Karabinowich) Woloczij and the youngest of 8 children. She worked in Germany during WWII where she met and married Matthew Lonczyna. After the war, with their daughter Sophie, they immigrated to America in 1949. After a year in Maryland they reunited with friends in Holyoke and ten years later they settled in Chicopee. Anna worked for 28 years at Pratt and Austen Stationary, retiring in 1986. She was a communicant and proud member of Saints Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church in Ludlow and enjoyed cross stitching and embroidery. Anna was the beloved wife of the late Matthew Lonczyna, who predeceased her in 1985. She leaves her loving daughters; Sophie Zielinski of Chicopee and Olga Hoeppner and her husband Gary of Ludlow; adored grandchildren Jason Hoeppner and wife Paula Sierra, Patricia Martin and her fiance Marek Kement, Matthew Zielinski, Michael Zielinski and wife Christy; caring great grandchildren Tyler and Jake Martin, Matthew and Danielle Hoeppner and Kellen and Adrian Zielinski. Sadly Anna was also predeceased by her son-in-law Leslie Zielinski in 2014. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday July 14, 2021 at 9:00am from the Ludlow Funeral Home with a Divine Liturgy celebrated at 10:00am in Saints Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church followed by burial in St. Aloysius Cemetery. Visiting hours are Tuesday evening from 5:00-7:00pm at the Funeral Home with Panakhyda services beginning at 6:30 with Father Andriy Krip. In lieu of flowers it was the wish of Anna's family that donations be made in her memory to: Saints Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church, 45 Newbury St. Ludlow, Ma. 01056.
