Obituary for Anthony Joseph Leonczyk
Anthony Joseph Leonczyk passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on December 4th 2023 at the age of 76. Tony was born to Anthony C. and Harriet (Poplawski) Leonczyk on March 17th, 1947 in Ludlow, MA. He was the oldest of 4 children. He graduated from Springfield Trade High School in 1965. He went on to have an over 40 year career at Pratt and Whitney where he began as a welder in an apprentice program and worked his way up through the organization where he held various engineering and management roles. He helped to advance numerous aspects of aircraft engine coatings. He remained a Ludlow resident for his entire life and raised his family here. He was a longtime parishioner of Christ the King church. He enjoyed spending time with his family. Playing with his grandchildren and making them smile made him especially happy. He was a lifelong automotive enthusiast. He was especially fond of muscle cars, particularly his 1966 GTO. He is survived by his wife of 54 years Vera and son Anthony of Ludlow. Son Andrew and his wife Victoria, and his two grandchildren Vivienne and Beckett of Brookline, NH. Sadly, he was predeceased by his brother Michael. He is also survived by his sister Joanne Grimaldi and her husband Jack of Ludlow. His sister Ann Marie Lovotti and her husband Robert of Springfield. Two sisters-in-law Rose Syriac of Ludlow and Deborah Leonczyk of Huntington, as well as several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held for Tony on Friday, December 8th from 4pm to 6pm at Ludlow Funeral Home 432 East Street, Ludlow, MA. Funeral services will be held on Saturday December 9th at 9:00am at the Funeral Home with a Liturgy of Christian Mass celebrated at 10:00am in Christ the King Church burial to follow at St. Aloysius Cemetery in Indian Orchard, MA. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Tony's memory to the charity of one's choice.
