Obituary for Anthony Spano
Anthony Spano, of Pompano Beach, Florida passed away on Monday, November 3, 2008 surrounded by his loving family and dear companion, Naida Lachowetz. He was born in Springfield, MA on June 24, 1917, the son of the late Joseph and Sarah Spano, and resided in Chicopee for many years. Anthony was a well respected businessman in the Springfield-Chicopee area, owning several businesses before retiring to Pompano Beach, FLA.  He was an avid golfer and a member of the Springfield and Ludlow Country Clubs. He is survived by his loving children; Stephen J. Spano, James and Sue Spano, both of Chicopee, MA, Carolyn and Lee McClurg of Hilton Head, SC and Judy Spano-Davis of Burlington, MA., twelve grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, his sister Vivian Bobrowski and her husband Zigmund of Springfield and many nieces and nephews. Anthony was predeceased in death by his loving wife, Doris Olson Spano, his granddaughter Karoline Widuta, his sisters, Esther Langone, Rita Chechile, Evelyn McCormack and his brother Robert Spano. A funeral mass will be held at Mount Carmel Church, 123 William Street, Springfield, MA on Friday, November 14, 2008 at 10:00 AM followed by burial at St. Michael’s Cemetery, 1601 State Street, Springfield, MA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mount Carmel Academy, 123 William Street, Springfield, MA 01105, 413-734-5433, American Heart Association or Autism Speaks.  Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Ludlow Funeral Home.Â
