Obituary for Antonio da Costa
Antonio Rodrigues da Costa (born January 1, 1936), of Indian Orchard, passed away peacefully at home on October 23, 2022 at the age of 86 surrounded by his loving family. Born in Sapelos, Portugal, he immigrated to the United States on October 21, 1978. Antonio worked for Hasbro Gaming Company in East Longmeadow, from which he retired. He was a faithful communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Parish and a proud member of the Gremio Lusitano Club, both in Ludlow, MA. Like a true Portuguese, he was a loyal fan of soccer, especially the Portuguese club F.C Porto. Antonio enjoyed spending time with friends and family, and would often help his wife with their garden and taking care of their animals. Antonio was the beloved husband of Alexandrina (Pereira) Costa, a loving father to José Costa and wife Maria Martins and Helder Costa and wife Jacqueline; the cherished grandfather to Andre, Shayla, Logan, and Karina Costa; A dear brother to the late Abel Costa who predeceased him in 1993, and also leaves many loving extended family members and their friends. Funeral services for Antonio will be held on Friday, October 28. Visiting hours are from 9 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. at the Ludlow Funeral Home followed by a Liturgy Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Fatima parish and Island Pond Cemetery, both in Ludlow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Antonio's memory to the American Heart Association and National Alliance on Mental Illness.
