Obituary for Antonio DeMatos
Antonio DeMatos, 71, of Ludlow, passed away at his home on August 18, 2006. He was born in Portugal, and served in the Portuguese Army, being stationed for 2 years in Goa, India.  He moved to this country in 1960 and lived in New Jersey for 10 years before moving to Ludlow. Antonio retired from the Mass. Municipal Wholesale Electric Co. in 1995, and was a proud member of the Portuguese Continental Union Lodge #44. He enjoyed the outdoors and gardening and will be sadly missed by his family and friends. Antonio leaves his wife of 46 years, Mary Irene; a daughter Celeste Fanning and her husband Martin of Ludlow; 2 sons Albert DeMatos and his wife Rebecca of Belchertown and Steven DeMatos of Ludlow; a sister Armanda Rodrigues and her husband Manuel of Ludlow, 2 grandchildren; Christopher and Laura and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was also predeceased by a daughter Irene Marie in 1970 and his parents Mario and Maria Matos. Funeral services will be Tuesday morning at 8 AM from the Ludlow Funeral Home with a Liturgy of Christian Burial in Our Lady of Fatima Church at 9, followed by burial in St. Aloysius Cemetery. Visiting hours are Monday from 6-8 PM , and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Baystate Visiting  Nurses and Hospice, PO BOX 9058 Springfield Ma 01102-9058 or the American Cancer Society
