Obituary for Antonio Dias Amaral
Antonio Dias Amaral, 83 of Ludlow, died peacefully at home, Saturday December 1, 2007, in the loving arms of his family. Born July 2, 1924 in Proenca-A-Velha Portugal, the son of the late Francisco Dias Amaral and Filomena Maria Folgado Amaral, he was raised in Portugal and served in the Portuguese Army. Antonio brought his family here in 1967, where he and his wife Maria raised their five children. Â He was a retired machinist at Ala-Vel Industries, and will always be remembered as a kind, patient man, who loved his family dearly. He spent many hours with his children and grandchildren gardening, making wooden toys, and sneaking them chocolate treats. Â He leaves his wife of 60 years, Maria (Leitao) Amaral, his cherished children, Francisco Amaral, Maria Fatima Amaral, John Amaral and his wife Linda and Grace Matos and her husband Dominick all of Ludlow. His daughter Ressurreicao Gomes, who died in 2002, awaits him in everlasting peace. Antonio will be lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Miguel Gomes, Dominick Matos and Jennifer and Anthony Amaral. He will be missed by his many nephews, nieces, friends and neighbors. Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning at 8 AM from the Ludlow Funeral Home with a Liturgy of Christian Burial in Our Lady of Fatima Church at 9. Â Burial will follow in Island Pond Cemetery. Calling hours are Monday from 4-7 PM.
