Obituary for Antonio G. Lucas
Antonio Germano Lucas, 88, passed away peacefully on August 22, 2019 surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Evora De Alcobaca, Portugal to the late Germano and Gloria Lucas.
In 1966, he immigrated to the United States where he lived in Indian Orchard for many years before moving to Ludlow.
Antonio was a parishioner of Our Lady of Fatima Parish and he was proud of his Portuguese heritage.
Retiring from the former Jahn Foundry after 27 years as a mold maker.
A member of the Gremio Lusitano Club where he enjoyed soccer games, coffee and socializing.
After retirement he spent time renovating his home in Portugal along with his wife Conceicao, where they spent 18 plus years visiting family and friends. He had a passion for gardening, bicycling in the evening and wine making. He spent memorable moments sharing his wine and meals with friends and family.
Antonio was a devoted husband of 60 years to Conceicao who passed in February 15, 2019. A loving father to his daughter Teresa Silva, her spouse Anthony Silva and his loving grandchildren Brian and Karina Silva from Ludlow.
He leaves his surviving sisters Ana Cacela, Laurinda Goncalves and Angelina Pereira and her husband Jose all of Ludlow.
He was predeceased by his brothers Jose and Manuel Lucas of Portugal, sister Mariana (Lucas) Genovevo of Ludlow. He also leaves his sister in laws Iolanda Lucas and Celeste Alexandre of Portugal, along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins spread between two continents as well as many dear friends.
Visiting hours for Antonio will be on Tuesday, August 27th from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. at Ludlow Funeral Home with Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00 am. on Wednesday, August 28th at Our Lady of Fatima Church, followed by his burial at Island Pond Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requesting donations be made to the American Institute for Cancer Research in memory of his wife Conceicao Lucas 1759 R Street NW, Washington DC 20009/1-800-843-8114/www.aicr.org.
