Obituary for Antonio Goncalves
Antonio Goncalves, 71, of Ludlow was called home to be with God on Monday, November 7, 2011. Born in Trogueda, Portugal he was the son of the late Joao and Isabel Goncalves and has lived in Ludlow since 1968 where he was a faithful communicant of Our Lady Of Fatima Church. Antonio worked for many years at Hanson Group in Chicopee before his retirement in 1999. He enjoyed gardening and animals but his greatest joy in life was spending time with his family, especially his adored grandchildren. Antonio leaves his beloved wife Maria (Cabeleira) Goncalves of Ludlow; loving children Maria Goncalves Diaz and her husband Luis, Albert Goncalves and Manny Goncalves and his spouse Tracy Rusin all of Ludlow; cherished grandchildren Julia Goncalves, Aaron Goncalves, Alex Goncalves, Corey Diaz, Ryan Diaz and Larissa Diaz all of Ludlow; caring sister Julie Costa Goncalves of Portugal as well as many family and friends in Ludlow and Portugal. Sadly Antonio was predeceased by his brother Jose Costa Goncalves. Funeral services will be held on Monday November 14, 2011 at 8:30am from Ludlow Funeral Home with a Liturgy of Christian Burial celebrated at 9:30am in Our Lady of Fatima Church with burial to follow in Island Pond Cemetery. Visiting hours are Sunday afternoon from 2:00-5:00pm. In lieu of flowers the Antonio’s family has asked that donations be made in his name to the charity of ones choice.
