Obituary for Antonio Marta
Antonio Marta, 98, of Ludlow, died peacefully on Wednesday, January 6, 2010, with his loving family at his side. Born in Celorico da Beira, Portugal, he has lived in Ludlow since 1973. Antonio was a proud member of the Gremio Lusitano Club and a faithful communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Parish in Ludlow. Antonio worked for many years at the former Ludlow Textiles Co. before his retirement. His beloved wife Amelia daConceicao (Gomes) Marta predeceased him in 2007. He leaves his loving children, Fausto Marta and his wife Maria and Maria A. Ribeiro and her husband Julio, all of Ludlow; cherished grandchildren Paulo Marta and his wife Lori and Helena Cote and her husband Mark; adored great-grandchildren Jenna, Cristiano and Brayden. Funeral services for Antonio will be on Friday, January 8th, 2010 at 9:00am from the Ludlow Funeral Home with a Liturgy of Christian Burial beginning at 10:00am in St. Elizabeth’s Church followed by burial in St. Aloysius Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday evening from 4:00pm-7:00pm.
