Obituary for Arlindo Defreitas
Arlindo Garcia Defreitas, 73, of Ludlow passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 15, 2025 surrounded by his loving family. Born on July 13, 1951 in Curros de Boticas, Portugal, he was the son of the late Americo Goncalves de Freitas and Maria Goncalves Garcia. Arlindo lived and worked in Curros and served in the Portuguese Army in Guinea before immigrating to Ludlow, Massachusetts in 1979. While living in Ludlow, he worked for the Hatforge Factory for a few years before shifting to work in construction at Maxymillian Construction and then at Caracas Construction until he retired in 2013. In his free time, Arlindo loved to spend time with his family and tend to his garden which he was very proud of. He also enjoyed going back to his homeland in Portugal as often as he could and was also a member of the Portuguese Club in Ludlow where enjoyed playing cards with his friends. Arlindo leaves behind his loving wife of 52 years, Ana Cruz Freitas, as well as their three sons and their spouses, Alfredo and Lina, Jose and Amber, and Americo and Linda. Arlindo is remembered fondly by his grandchildren Kailee, Ariana, Joel, Joseph, Anasandra, Alex, Sonny, Andre, and Julia. Funeral services for Arlindo will be held on Friday, February 21st from the Ludlow Funeral Home. Visitation is Friday morning from 8:30am-10:15am with a Liturgy of Christian Mass celebrated at 11:00am in Our Lady of Fatima Church, followed by burial in Reservoir Cemetery in Ludlow.
