Obituary for Armando "Carriço” Pereira
Armando (Carriço) Pires Pereira, age 73, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family, after a long battle with Leukemia. He was born in Meixedo, Portugal, to Maria and the late Jose Pereira and moved to Ludlow in the early 1970’s. He had a long and proud career in Tool and Die making before retiring in 2011.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 44 years, Heather Brundrett Pereira, his daughter Carla Krause and husband Richard, and son Marco Pereira and wife Caitlin. More than anything else, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, Hunter Shanahan, Benjamin and Ray Pereira, and was a caring and doting grandfather. He loved the coast of Maine, where he spent time with his family vacationing over many years. He was passionate about politics, winemaking, soccer, and cooking for his friends and family while hosting many memorable events and parties.
He also leaves behind his sister Bertilia Justo, his nieces Elisabete Fraga and Lina Justo and their families, with whom he spent so much time and were a constant source of support. He also leaves many in-laws, nieces, and nephews on the Brundrett side of the family with whom many memories were made.
Lastly, a heartfelt thank you to Jimmy Muche who showed the family compassion, and offered help above and beyond.
Visiting hours for Armando are on Tuesday, December 17th from 4:00-7:00pm in Ludlow Funeral Home. Funeral service are on Wednesday, December 18th. Family and friends may gather at 11:00am directly at Our Lady of Fatima Church for a Liturgy of Christian Burial followed by burial in St. Aloysius Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Dana Farber Cancer Institute.
