Obituary for Arthur Augusto
Arthur Augusto, 83, passed away on January 4, 2018 with his family by his side. Born and raised in Ludlow, son of the late Hector and Maria (Batista) Augusto. He was a communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church, a proud member of the Gremio Lusitano Club and a drummer in the Gremio Lusitano Club Band, member of the Portuguese American Citizens Club, former Sewer Commission and Housing Authority Board Member for the town of Ludlow, member of the Massachusetts Teachers Association and an avid hunter. He was a graduate of Springfield Trade and Westfield State College. Arthur was a United States Army veteran serving his country during the Korean War. He was a teacher at Chicopee Comprehensive High School for many years. Beloved husband for 61 years of Gloria; loving father of Arthur Augusto Jr. and wife Janet of Cheshire, CT; Debra Augusto and partner Linda McCarthy of Belchertown and Donna Trajkovski and husband Kire of Ludlow. Cherished grandfather of Cathleen, AnnMarie and Alex Augusto; Christopher and Brian Mackey; Jacob, Jocelyn and Jessica Trajkovski; his caring sister Joaquina Bergeron and husband Leo of Chicopee as well as several dear nieces, nephews, friends and his dog Daisy. Sadly he was predeceased by his siblings Teresa Augusto, Jose Augusto, Mary Swiecanski and Aurea Greanier. Funeral services with military honors for Arthur will be held on Wednesday, January 10, 2018. Family and friends are asked to gather directly at Our Lady Of Fatima Church for Liturgy of Christian Burial celebrated at 10:30am, burial will follow in Island Pond Cemetery. Visiting hours are Tuesday evening from 4-7 pm at the Ludlow Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association @ diabetes.org.
