Arthur Johnson, longtime American International College Police Officer passed away peacefully on September 18, 2025.
Officer Johnson dedicated over 35 years of distinguished service to American International College and served as a Springfield Special Police Officer for a decade. His unwavering commitment to public safety and his tireless efforts to uplift the college community earned him the respect and admiration of all who had the privilege to work alongside him.
Arthur was a passionate advocate for education, especially in championing opportunities for women within the community. His legacy is one of honor, integrity, and heartfelt service—qualities that defined his career and his character.
He is survived by two loving sisters, a cherished niece, and an extended family of colleagues and friends at American International College who will miss him dearly. Arthur had a gift for connection; his warm spirit and endearing, often awkward banter brought light and laughter to every room he entered. He befriended everyone he met, leaving behind a trail of kindness and joy.
Though he is no longer with us, Arthur Johnson’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. His impact on our community is indelible, and his presence will be deeply missed.
In accordance with Arthur’s wishes, he will be cremated, and his ashes will be spread throughout the city he loved so dearly. Visiting hours will be held at Ludlow Funeral Home on Thursday, October 2nd from 5:00-6:30pm concluding with a service at 6:30pm and followed by a gathering at Tony & Penny’s in Ludlow.
