Obituary for Arthur Nunes
Arthur F. Nunes, 71, of Ludlow passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home on Wednesday June 6, 2012, surrounded by his family. Born in Alcobaca, Portugal he immigrated to Ludlow in 1961 and was a proud member of both the Chicopee Portuguese Club and the Ludlow Gremio Lusitano Club as well as an avid Sportinguista. He worked for over 29 years at Smith and Wesson before his retirement in 2002. Arthur was predeceased by his beloved wife Isabel (Ribeiro) Nunes in 2002. He leaves his loving sons, Marcel Nunes, Kevin Nunes and Keith Nunes and his wife Patricia all of Ludlow; caring brothers Armando Nunes and his wife Terry of York, Maine and Orlando Nunes and his wife Linda of Indian Orchard. Funeral services for Arthur will be held on Friday June 8, 2012 at 8:00am from the Ludlow Funeral Home followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial celebrated in St Elizabeth Church at 9:00am with burial in Island Pond Cemetery. Visiting hours are Thursday evening from 4:00-7:00pm and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Arthur’s memory to: The American Lung Association, 393 Maple St. Springfield, MA. 01105.
