Obituary for Aurora (Da Silva) Goncalves
Aurora (Da Silva) Goncalves, 92, of Ludlow, passed away peacefully at home on August 6, 2025 surrounded by her loving family. Born in Jacarepaguá, Brazil, she moved to Portugal as a child before immigrating to the United States in the early 1960’s. Aurora was a devout communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Parish and she enjoyed gardening, taking care of her flowers, and cooking; but her greatest joy in life was spending time with her cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Aurora was the beloved wife of the late Jose Clemente Goncalves, who predeceased her in 2011; a loving mother to Maria Gamache and husband Thomas of Ludlow, and Gracinda Hawley and husband Kenneth of Newton, AL; a devoted grandmother to Joseph Gamache and wife Kathleen, of Indianapolis, IN, Kaitlyn Galbraith and husband Allan, of Scotland, Sarah Cisneros and husband Joseph, of Ft. Benning, GA, Nicholas Hawley, of South Bend, IN, and Hannah Hawley, of Troy AL; cherished great-grandmother to Oliver & Audrey Gamache and Elizabeth & Theodore Cisneros; a dear sister to the late Carlos Da Silva; and also leaves her granddog & loyal companion Max, many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
Funeral services for Aurora will be held on Monday, August 11th. Visitation is from 9:00-10:15am at Ludlow Funeral Home with Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11:00am in Our Lady of Fatima Parish followed by burial in Island Pond Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Aurora’s memory to St. Jude Children Research Hospital.
