Obituary for Barbara A. (Desnoyers) McDonald
Barbara A. (Desnoyers) McDonald, 69, of Ludlow, was called home on Tuesday, March 20, 2007, following a long illness.  She was born in Springfield, daughter of the late George J. and Edna (Lambert) Desnoyers, on April 15, 1937, and lived most of her life in Ludlow.  Barbara was Comptroller at Business Headquarters, Inc. and retired in 2006.  McDonald was a faithful communicant of St. Mary of the Assumption Church, where she served as organist for 32 years.  She was also active as member of the Parish Council, the Spiritual Life Committee, Family and Community Life Committee, and CCD teacher.  Barbara served many years on both the parish and diocesan levels of the Annual Catholic Charities/Stewardship Appeal.  She was active on the Promotion Committee of the Mother of Sorrows Retreat House.  McDonald was a member of the Young at Heart Square Dance Club and the Western MA Cage Bird Society.  She was also a volunteer librarian at Veterans Park School.  Barbara was predeceased by her husband of 43 years, John R.C. McDonald, in 2004.  She leaves 6 children to keep her memory, Timothy and his wife Christine, of Monson; Christopher and his wife Sheryl, of Anchorage, AK; Richard and his wife Lan , of Belchertown; Patricia O’Connor and her husband James, of Westfield; Marie Goodreau and her husband Donald, of Anchorage, AK; and Kevin and his wife Michaela, of Framingham.  She leaves 13 grandchildren, Michael, William, Fallon, Tanner, Cory, Shane and Connor McDonald, Shawn and Eric Thomas, Heather and Morgan O’Connor, Aaron and Emily Goodreau, and one great-grandchild, Nicholas.  Barbara is survived by her brother George J. Desnoyers, of Pittsfield and a sister, Sandra J. Harper, of Port Richey, FL.  She was predeceased by one brother, Thomas C. Desnoyers.  She also leaves many, many wonderful friends, some of which go all the way back to Kindergarten and even earlier.  Her funeral will be on Saturday morning at 9am from Ludlow Funeral Home 432 East St. Ludlow, followed by Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10am in St. Mary of the Assumption Church.  Rites of Committal will follow in St. Michael’s Cemetery.  Calling hours at the funeral home will be on Friday evening from 4:00pm-8:00pm and in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Baystate Visiting Nurse and Hospice, 50 Maple Street, Springfield, Ma. 01103 or to St.  Mary of the Assumption Church 12 Cedar St. Ludlow, Ma. 01056.
