Obituary for Beatriz (Santo) Zina
Beatriz (Santo) Zina, 95, of Ludlow, passed away peacefully on October 17, 2007. Born in Sobral da Lagoa, Portugal, Beatriz came to Indian Orchard in 1969 with her family and lived there for a short time before moving to Ludlow, where she was a faithful communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church. She worked for several years at Interstate Uniform before retiring in 1974; but her greatest joy in life was her family; especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Beatriz was the beloved wife of the late Torcato R. Zina Jr., who predeceased her in 1999; a loving mother to Jose Zina and his late wife Arlinda of Indian Orchard, Augusto “Gus” Zina and his wife Maria, of Belchertown, and Idalina Zina Serra and her late husband Madail, of Ludlow; a dear sister to Jose Branco Santo, of Indian Orchard, Idalina Soares, of Portugal, and the late Maria Santos, Matilde daCruz and Laura dos Santos; a cherished grandmother to George, Michael, Beatriz, Danny, Paulo and Nancy and great-grandmother to Andrew, Torcato, Antonio, Samantha, Nicholas, Jack and Sofia. Funeral services are on Friday morning at 9am from the Ludlow Funeral Home with Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10am in Our Lady of Fatima Church followed by burial in Island Pond Cemetery. Visitation is on Thursday from 4-8pm.
