Obituary for Belmira J. (Ferreira) Vitorino
Belmira J. (Ferreira) Vitorino, 89, of Ludlow, died peacefully at home on June 27, 2014 with her loving family by her side.  Born in Benedita, Portugal, she came to Ludlow in 1968 where she was a faithful communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church and an actively involved volunteer in many church organizations and functions.  Belmira worked for many years for Servus Rubber Co. in Chicopee before retiring in 1981.  She was also an avid gardener, seamstress, and loved to sing, particularly as a member of the church choir; but her greatest joy in life was spending time with her beloved family, especially with her grandchildren and her daughter’s dog Eggnog.
Belmira was the beloved wife of 64 years to Manuel Vitorino; a loving mother to Fatima Honorio and husband Joaquim, Olimpio Vitorino and wife Irene, Braz Vitorino and wife Julie, all of Ludlow, Emidio Vitorino, of Belchertown, and Maria Cacela and husband Luis, of Wilbraham; a cherished grandmother to Mark Honorio and wife Wanda, Daniel Honorio, Sarah Vitorino, Philip Vitorino, Steven Vitorino and wife Katie, Tim Vitorino and wife Erin, David Vitorino, Matt Vitorino, John Cacela and fiancee Brianna, and Chris Cacela and wife Marcy; great-grandmother to Giovanni, Justin, Grace, Amber, Elijah, Ethan, and Emma; and also leaves many loving extended family members and dear friends.
Funeral services are on Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at 10:15am from Ludlow Funeral Home with Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11:00am in Our Lady of Fatima Church followed by burial in Island Pond Cemetery. Visiting hours will precede the funeral from 8:30-10:15am.
