Obituary for Benvinda “Binda” Evangelista
Benvinda “Binda” Evangelista fell into the arms of the Lord on May 15, 2019. Born June 8, 1920 in Marlborough, Ma., she was the daughter of Alexandrina Cruz and Jose Paulo. She was a communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church and retired from Servus Rubber Corp. Binda was truly a homebody who loved doing things in her home, took pride in her flower garden, reading Danielle Steele books, and enjoyed having visits from family and friends.
Binda was predeceased by her loving husband Joseph in 2005. She leaves her devoted daughter, Sandra Silva, of Ludlow; cherished granddaughter Shanna Moutinho; precious great grandchildren, Cole Moutinho and Ava Moutinho; loving friends that she considered as her second daughters and who were always there for her - Julie Santos, Donna Augustus, and Maria Helin, who was also her goddaughter; her loving nephew Michael Eulo of N.J., who always made a special visit to his aunt Binda on her birthday; sister-in-law Mary Evangelista; godson Bobby Eulo of Pennsylvania; nieces, nephews, and her cousin Arlete de Sousa of Portugal.
A very heartfelt and sincere “thank you” to the staff at Wingate of Wilbraham, Unit A2, for their care, dedication, and even some “shared laughs” we had while “Benny” was there; especially Mary V., Sarah, Kim, Ashley, Olivia, Becky, and Cheryl from Beacon Hospice. Bless you all for the work you do.
Funeral services for Binda will be held on Tuesday, May 21st. Visiting hours will be from 8:30am-10:15am in Ludlow Funeral Home with Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11:00am in Our Lady of Fatima CHurch followed by burial in St. Aloysius Cemetery. Donations may be made in Binda’s memory to Shriners Hospital for Children 516 Carew St. Springfield, Ma. 01104.
