Obituary for Bertilia (Joao) Goncalves
Bertilia (Joao) Goncalves ,83, of Ludlow passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home on Thursday September 25, 2014. Born in Bosto Frio, Portugal to the late Ismael and Belmira Joao she has lived in Ludlow for many years. Bertilia was a faithful communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Parish and enjoyed gardening but her greatest joy in life was the time spent with her cherished family. She leaves her beloved husband of 59 years Joaquim Goncalves; loving mother to Leo Goncalves and his companion Paula Vieira, Michael Goncalves and wife Dee, Diane Manicki and her husband Michael; adored grandmother to Lisa Lavin and husband Tim, Jacqueline Goncalves, Briana Goncalves, Sharlene Rogers and husband Matthew, Michelle Goncalves and Nicholas Goncalves; great-grandmother to Arianna Andrade, Colton Rogers and Brittyn Rogers; a dear sister to Domingos Joao and wife Isabel and nieces Diane Joao and Lucy Ferreira.

 
 
 

 

Funeral services for Bertilia will be held on Saturday September 27, 2014 at 10:00am from the Ludlow Funeral Home with a Liturgy of Christian Burial celebrated at 11:00am in Our Lady of Fatima Church followed by burial in Island Pond Cemetery. Visiting hours are Friday evening from 4:00-7:00pm.
