Obituary for Brenda (Fidalgo) Heap
Brenda Irene (Fidalgo) Heap, 80, passed away on Wednesday, April 24, at Baystate Medical Center, after courageously fighting ongoing medical issues. She was born and raised In Ludlow, MA. She was predeceased by her parents Adelaide and Olimpio Fidalgo. Brenda graduated from Ludlow High School and went on to become a cosmetologist. She worked in the field for 57 years creating everlasting friendships which later flourished into the “Bella Donna’s”, a close group of cherished friends that traveled each year to secret locations throughout the U.S. during the Holiday Season. Brenda enjoyed planning and organizing these trips each year with her friends that were filled with adventure and laughter. Her love of reading was shared with her beloved friends at their monthly book club. Brenda married Thomas Heap in 1985, they would have shared their 39th wedding anniversary on May 19th. Brenda’s greatest joys included days spent at the beach on Cape Cod with husband Thomas and traveling the world with him to find new cuisines to take home and share with her loved ones. Brenda enjoyed reading a cookbook from cover to cover and creating in the kitchen for hours was certainly her happy place, with her canine companion, Papi, at her feet. Brenda is survived by her husband Thomas F. Heap, daughters April Johnston and Wendy Casagranda, sisters Lynda Milroy and Paula Moretti, nephew Rossano Butcher, stepdaughter Joanne Heap, step grandson Thomas A. Heap and her many friends whom she considered family. To honor Brenda’s wishes there will be a Mass held at St. Elizabeth Parish 191 Hubbard St. Ludlow, MA on Wednesday, May 1, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. Ludlow Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to an animal shelter dear to Brenda, Thomas J. O’Connor Animal Control & Adoption Center 627 Cottage St. Springfield, MA 01104.
