Obituary for Bruno L. Bertini
Bruno L. Bertini, of Springfield was called home to be with God on his 93rd birthday, Sunday, May 15, 2016. Born in Wilbraham to the late Arturo and Theresa (Ferrando) Bertini, he was United States Army Air Corp Veteran of WWII proudly serving his country in the Pacific Theater. In 1941, Bruno began his 44 year career at Chapman Valve from where he retired in August of 1985. He lived in Ludlow for many years where he was a member of the Portuguese American Citizens Club and a member and avid card player at the Ludlow Senior Center, where he also enjoyed participating in their trips. Bruno moved to Springfield 38 years ago, where he was a faithful communicant of St. Catherine of Siena Parish, and in his spare time, he enjoyed gardening and spending time with his family. Bruno was the beloved husband of the late Julia (Almeida) Bertini, who predeceased him in 2008; a loving father to Barbara Mastroianni and husband Albert, of Agawam, Michael Bertini and wife Donna, of Ludlow, and Dennis Bertini and wife Lisa, also of Ludlow; a devoted grandfather to Todd Bertini and wife Christi, Paul Bertini, Eric Mastroianni and wife Shannon, and Amy Plate and husband ; an adoring great-grandfather of 8; a dear brother to Rena Braccialarghe, and the late Hugo Bertini and Florence Blanchard; and also leaves many loving extended family members and dear friends including his brother-in-law and sisters-in-law: Casey Almeida and wife Mary, Margaret Mathias, and Amy Kania. Funeral services for Bruno will be held on Thursday, May 19th at 10:30am from the Ludlow Funeral Home with Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11:30am in St. Catherine of Siena Parish followed by burial in Island Pond Cemetery. Visiting hours Will precede the funeral on Thursday from 9:00 - 10:30am and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bruno’s memory to Friends of the Ludlow Senior Center 37 Chestnut St. Ludlow, Ma. 01056 or St. Catherine of Siena Parish 1023 Parker St. Springfield, Ma. 01129.
