Cacilda “Cila” (Salvador) Ferreira, 88, of Ludlow, passed away peacefully on Easter morning, April 20, 2025. Born in Oura, Portugal, to Maximino and Palmira (Carneiro) Salvador, she immigrated to the United States and settled in Ludlow. An active and devoted parishioner of Our Lady of Fatima Parish, Cacilda embodied faith. After many years of dedicated service at Smith & Wesson, she embraced retirement, spending her leisure time gardening, sewing, and preparing meals for her loved ones. Her greatest joy came from the moments shared with her family, especially her granddaughters—her meninas.
Cacilda was the beloved wife of 57 years to Augusto Ferreira, with whom she built a beautiful life. She was the loving and devoted mother to her cherished daughter, Cristina Placzek, and her husband, Jeffrey, and a nurturing vovó to her meninas, Fiona and Amelia; a dear sister to Joaquim Salvador and wife, Augusta, and the late Fernando, Delmino, Horacio, Amando, Francisco, Miquelina, and Jose. She also leaves her sister-in-law, Theresa Salvador, many sisters- and brothers-in-law in Portugal, France, and Brazil; as well as many nieces, nephews, godchildren, extended family members, and dear friends.
Cila was an amazingly kind woman to anyone fortunate to have met her. She will be so missed. Funeral services for Cacilda will be held on Friday April 25th. Visitation will be from 8:45-10:15 a.m. at Ludlow Funeral Home with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Fatima Parish, followed by burial in Island Pond Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Cacilda’s name to Our Lady of Fatima Parish.
