Carlos Jose Neto, 70, of Ludlow passed away peacefully at home with his loving family by his side, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Born in Ludlow, he was the son of the late Jose Luis Neto and Justina (Evangelista) Neto.
He graduated from Ludlow High School and worked in the School Department as Director of Buildings and Grounds for the Town of Ludlow until his retirement. He was a charter member of the UNITY AC and member of the Gremio Lusitano Club.Carlos lived life with passion and joy. He had a deep love for classic cars and trucks, soccer, the Grateful Dead, and warm summer days spent by the pool or at Old Orchard Beach, Maine, surrounded by family and friends. Whether grilling the best cheeseburgers and hot dogs or sharing a meal at a favorite local restaurant, he found happiness in good food, great company, and the simple pleasures of life. Music and cooking were at the heart of who he was, setting the perfect backdrop for gatherings filled with laughter and love. He will be remembered for his strength, generosity, humor, and the warmth he brought to those around him. His legacy of kindness, hospitality, and togetherness will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
He is survived by his beloved and devoted wife of 39 years, Maria Sao Neto. Treasured daughter Alison Neto. Brother and sister-in-law John and Maria Batista of Ludlow. Brother-in-law Robert Tinsley of Chula Vista, California. Father and mother-in-law Joaquim and Irene Batista of Ludlow. Cherished nieces and nephews: Jessi Tinsley (Sabian) of San Diego, California; Amanda Tinsley (Mike) of Oceanside, California; Justin Batista of Durango, Colorado; and Jillian Batista and Jake Batista of Ludlow. He is also survived by his dear grandnephew, Luis Polaris of San Diego, California. Sadly, he was predeceased by his loving sister Luisa Tinsley in 2009. He also leaves behind many adored cousins and close friends, who were truly special to him and who he loved deeply. He will be fondly remembered and greatly missed. The family would also like to thank Baystate Hospice for their compassionate care.
At Carlos's request, his funeral services will be held privately by his family. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society AstraZeneca Hope Lodge in Boston, MA (Hope Lodge Boston).
