Obituary for Carlos Noel Sosa, Sr.
Carlos Noel Sosa, Sr. 74, of Granby, passed away unexpectedly on May 8, 2025. Born in New York, NY on June 8, 1950, he was the son of the late Jose and Adelaida Sosa and grew up in Manhattan where he played basketball for Power Memorial H.S. Carlos continued his love for basketball throughout his life and in the late 1980’s, he especially enjoyed playing with his son and friends at Garrity Grove in Chicopee. Carlos was a Courier Driver for PVTA & Hertz and in his free time, he was an Avid Chess Master, Music Enthusiast (loved Tom Petty & Traveling Wilburys, Jazz, and Salsa music), Movie and Sports Enthusiast (loved listening to Mets & Yankees games on his Bose Radio), and enjoyed his weekly card games at the senior center
Carlos was the beloved husband of the late Emily Sosa who predeceased him in 2010; a devoted father to Jo-Anna Rutherford and her husband Wiggins of VA, Carlos Sosa Jr. and his Wife Tammy of Granby MA, Emily Green and her husband Dossie of Springfield MA, Antonio Sosa and his wife Stacy of Ludlow MA, Jose Willam Sosa of RI; a dear brother to Jose Sosa and his wife Jeanette of FL, and Evelyn Torres Sosa of DE; a loving grandfather to Roman, Alaina, Shaun Paul, Michael, Savannah, Briana, Jordan, Logan, Noah, Daniel, Jayden, Valentina; and also leaves several great-grandchildren, his granddoggers Roxie, Oscar, Vera, and Buddy; as well as many beloved extended family members and dear friends.
A memorial service for Carlos will be held privately by his family.
