Obituary for Carolina F. Sousa
Carolina (Felismina) Sousa, 81 Indian Orchard, passed away peacefully Monday October 5, 2009 surrounded by her loving family. Born in Val Benfeito, Obidos Portugal, to Felismina and Eduardo Jacinto, she came to America in 1969 and settled in Indian Orchard. She worked for many years at Gemini Corp. of Springfield, and at BPP Corp. in Wilbraham, until her retirement in 1993. Carolina was a communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church, and among other things, enjoyed her daily walks and spending time with her great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Joaquim Sousa in 2004, and her sister Derlinda Madeira. She is survived by her daughter Laurinda Rodrigues, and her husband Salvador of I.O., her grandsons; Philip Rodrigues and his wife Rebecca of Chicopee, and Steven Rodrigues and his wife Angela of Springfield, 3 beloved great grandchildren; Alex, Natalie and Emanuel, two brothers; Joaquim and Antonio both of Portugal, as well as several nieces and nephews both here and in Portugal. Funeral services will be Friday morning at 9 AM from the Ludlow Funeral Home with a Liturgy of Christian Burial in St. Mary of the Assumption Church at 10, with burial to follow in Island Pond Cemetery. Visiting hours are Thursday evening from 4-7 PM at Ludlow Funeral Home
