Obituary for Cecilia " Sally" (Polys) Surprenant
Cecilia "Sally" (Polys) Surprenant, 95 , of Ludlow passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday August 9, 2023. Born and raised in Ludlow Cecilia was the daughter of the late Jan and Balbina (Furgal) Polys. She was a faithful communicant of St. Elizabeths Parish in Ludlow and belonged to the Ludlow Senior Center, playing cards and having lunch with her friends, she was also a snow bird spending her winters in Florida where she enjoyed playing shuffleboard. Sally was predeceased by her beloved husband Ernest in 1989. She leaves her loving children; Paul Surprenant and his wife Kate of Ludlow, Joanne Teixeira and her husband Louis of Palmer and Karen Belanger of Granby; 3 adored grandchildren Marie, Luis and Jody; 6 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren and Brenda McClain who was like a daughter to her. Sadly she was also predeceased by her siblings Adam, Stanley, Frank, Casimir and Joseph Polys and Ester Martinelli, Rose Walczak and Ida Bobwiec. Sally's family would like to give a heartfelt thank you to nurse Carolyn of Beacon Hospice for the outstanding care that she gave to her during their time together. Funeral services will be held for Sally on Wednesday, August 16th at 10:00am from the Ludlow Funeral Home with a Liturgy of Christian Mass celebrated at 11:00am in St. Elizabeth's Church followed by burial in St. Aloysius Cemetery in Springfield. Visitation will take place on Tuesday evening at the Funeral Home from 4:00-7:00pm. In lieu of flowers it was the wish of Cecilia’s family that donations be made in her memory to: Beacon Hospice, 815 Worcester St, Springfield 01151. Or to: Ludlow Animal Control office at Ludlow Town Hall.
