Obituary for Celeste M. (Gil) Dos Santos
Celeste M. (Gil) Dos Santos, 90, of Ludlow, passed away peacefully on May 30, 2019 surrounded by her loving family. Born in Turquel, Alcobaca, Portugal, daughter of the late Jose and Adelina (Martins) Gil, she immigrated to the United States in 1966 and settled in Ludlow where she was a faithful communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church. Celeste worked for many years at Winkler Flexible Straws and later for JR Lyman Co. from where she retired. In her spare time, she loved to cook and bake, especially bread, and especially spend time with her loving family. Celeste was the beloved wife of the late Carlos Dos Santos, who predeceased her in 1998; a loving mother to Maria Victoria Frutuoso and husband Silvino, of Chicopee, Maria Jordan and husband Bruce, of Ludlow, and the late Manuel Dos Santos; a devoted grandmother to Lisa King, Melinda Weaver, Matthew Jordan, and Michael Jordan; a cherished great-grandmother to Jessica and Jillian Coelho, and McKayla and Adalyn Weaver; a dear sister to Justina Costa, of Ludlow, and the late Victoria Silva, Maria Venancio, Isaura Silva, Hermina Fonseca, and Antonio, Joaquim, and Jose Gil; and also leaves many nieces, nephews, extended family members and dear friends. Visiting hours are on Monday evening from 5:00-7:00pm in Ludlow Funeral Home. Funeral services are on Tuesday June 4th at 9:00am from the funeral home with Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00am in Our Lady of Fatima Church followed by burial in Island Pond Cemetery. Donations may be made in Celeste’s memory to Our Lady of Fatima Church 438 Winsor St. Ludlow, Ma. 01056.
