Obituary for Celeste (Martins) Costa
Celeste (Martins) Costa, 90, of Ludlow, passed away peacefully on November 2, 2011 with her loving family by her side. Born in Ludlow, daughter of the late Jose and Carminda (Nazare) Martins, she was a lifelong resident and faithful communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church where she was also a former CCD teacher. Celeste was the beloved wife of the late Fernando "Bayles" Costa, who predeceased her in 1996; a loving mother to Dennis and wife Sandra, of Ludlow, Joel and wife Katie, of Belchertown, and Patricia Schlichting and husband Gary, of Southwick; cherished grandmother to Danielle Figoni and husband Christopher, of Long Island NY, Allison Gomes and husband Dennis, of Ludlow, Michael and Bryan Costa, of Belchertown, and Katelyn Schlichting, of Southwick; adoring great-grandmother of 4; dear sister to Mary Fernandes, of Wallingford, CT; sister-in-law to Albert "Lefty" and Alice Costa, of Ludlow, Lucy Silva of Southwick, Paul and Sara Lucas of Ludlow, Mary Manchester, of Florida, and Marsha Costa, of Springfield; and also leaves many loving extended family members and dear friends. Funeral service will be held on Monday, November 7, 2011 at 8:00am from Ludlow Funeral Home with Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9:00am in Our Lady of Fatima Church followed by burial in St. Aloysius Cemetery. Visiting hours are on Sunday afternoon from 3:00-6:00pm. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Celeste’s memory to: Shriners Hospital For Children, 516 Carew St. Springfield, MA. 01104.
