Obituary for Charlene Quinby
Charlene Quinby, 76 years old, of Worcester passed away peacefully on March 27, 2023. Born in Ludlow to the late Charles E. Quinby and Theresa (Belisle) Quinby St. Onge. She attended local schools, graduating from Ludlow High School in 1965 and later from Springfield Technical Community College (STCC) with honors. Charlene worked as an office clerk and managed the medical desk in the Life Underwriting Department at Monarch Life Insurance Company. She moved to California in 1975 and worked at World Airways in the maintenance, and engineering departments. It was there she worked on a special government project for the Navy Department overhauling eight DC-9 aircraft. Charlene moved back to the east coast and returned to Monarch Life Insurance Company. She also worked part-time at various retail stores in the Eastfield Mall. Charlene leaves behind her brother, Charles Quinby of Sturbridge, MA; her nephews Chris and wife Sharise of Castro Valley, CA; Peter and wife Becca of East Windsor, CT; Matthew and wife Liz of Feeding Hills, MA; and Nicholas and wife Jill of Boston, MA; niece, Tina of Baltimore, MD; and great nieces and nephews Nathan, Sierra, Abby, Caleb, Megan, Cayden, Jacob, and Michael. She loved keeping busy with her needlework, knitting, reading, and listening to music, especially her favorite, Yanni. Charlene loved spending time with her nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews and enjoyed watching Golden Girls and Law & Order.
At Charlene’s request, services will be held privately with her family at Island Pond Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in Charlene’s memory be made to Friends of the Ludlow Senior Center, 228 State Street, Ludlow, MA 01056.
