Obituary for Charles C. Stewart
Charles C. Stewart, 84, of Ludlow, passed away peacefully on May 15, 2020 surrounded by his loving family. Charles was born in Holyoke and was a 1955 graduate of Turners Falls High School before enlisting in the United States Marine Corps where he proudly served his country from 1955-1959. Charles lived most of his life in Ludlow, where he was a member of the Elks Lodge and worked as a commercial artist for Rexall Company. He later worked as security for Bank of America from where he retired, and in retirement, he continued working security at various locations. In his spare time, he loved camping and boating, especially spending time with his family and large community of friends at Mitch’s Marina. Charles was the beloved husband of the late Carol A. (Desautels) Stewart, who predeceased him in 2015; a loving father to Joanne Barroso and husband Tony, of Indian Orchard, Janice Hayes and husband Tom, of Westfield, Jennifer Musiak and husband Kevin, of Indian Orchard, and Jill Fijal and husband John, of Belchertown; a devoted grandfather to Natalie, Nathan, Sara, Joe, Kevin Jr., Kristina, Andrew, and Charlie; a cherished great-grandfather to Connor; a dear brother to Mary Jane Stuart, James Stewart, and the late Harding Stewart; and also leaves many nieces, nephews, extended family members and dear friends including Tammy Szczebak, who was like a daughter to him. At this time, cremation has taken place with a Public Memorial Service with Military Honors at a later date in Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Agawam.
